Building On A Solid Foundation

During Kip's first term, the Port has reached historic milestones in transportation infrastructure and economic development. In his next term, Kip aims to build on this success to drive growth, create jobs, and ensure a prosperous future for Walla Walla County.

Next Term Focus

Project Initiative #1

Fully fund, construct, and open both  US-12 Phase 8 and the US-12 Clinton Street Interchange.

Project Initiative #2

Complete the environmental cleanup and development of the Melrose Business Park.    

Project Initiative #3

Invest in infrastructure improvements at the Wallula Gap Business Park and Dodd Road Industrial Park to facilitate significant private-sector capital investments. These investments will increase assessed value and create new family-wage jobs in the region.

Complete upgrades to the Burbank High Dock for American Cruise Lines and other river excursion companies.

Policy Advocacy #1

The expansion and strengthening of the regional electrical grid.

Policy Advocacy #2

Streamlining the permit review process to make it expeditious, predictable, and efficient.

Changes to land use planning, zoning, and regulations to reduce the cost of housing.

Steps to enhance the availability and affordability of broadband services.

From initiating environmental cleanup for the Melrose Business Park to completing over $50 million in airport upgrades and starting construction on a LifeFlight base, we've laid the foundation for a dynamic future.  That future includes companies such as SkyNRG and Rockwool that have selected Port properties for their next-gen facilities.

3. Invested in the Future

Through decisive action, we've achieved historic progress in infrastructure development, including securing $109 million for US-12 Phase-8 and $6 million for the US-12 Clinton Street Interchange design. In the next term, I will focus on completing these projects, enhancing transportation networks, and fostering growth that benefits every corner of Walla Walla County.

With accomplishments like selling the AgriFrozen property to Refresco, developing Phase 2 of Avery Industrial Park, and attracting businesses like Frito-Lay and Dollar General to the region, we've strengthened our local economy. My vision is to continue creating opportunities for businesses to thrive, bringing high-quality jobs and long-term prosperity to the community.
